Transcription and saith that the said [?fourteene] billsand saith that the said [?fourteene] bills of lading exhibited and now showne<br /> unto him were severally one of the said three bills of lading soe signed by him<br /> this deponent, and that the said bills were and are reall and true and the contents [?thereof ?so]<br /> had and donne as therein is contained. And otherwise hee cannot depose. Upon the rest hee is not examined by direction of the producent. To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING] To the first hee saith that hee was on board and master of the said shipp at the time<br /> of her seizure, and hath soe bin about eighteene moneths last past<br /> or thereabouts, and that hee was borne at derschelling aforesaid, where<br /> hee hath dwelt all his time saving one yeare that hee dwelt at Amsterdam<br /> and otherwise negatively. To the second negatively saying hee doth not knowe Jeronimo Nunez<br /> da Costa, nor any other of the parties interrogated. To the third hee saith hee doth not knowe any of the persons interrogated<br /> by these names, it not being materiall (as hee conceiveth) nor usuall for<br /> skippers to take notice of the factors names, but beleeveth that one of them<br /> is named Antonio Carrera Bra[?vo] at whose house hee hath often bin<br /> in Lisbone this voyage, and otherwise cannot depose, saving as aforesaid. To the fourth hee saith hee was not present at nor privie to the buying<br /> of the goods in question, and otherwise hee cannot answer saving his<br /> foregoing deposition to which hee referreth himselfe. To the fifth hee saith the factors interrogated came not aboard that hee<br /> remembreth, nor had hee any conversation with them, for the goods were laden<br /> by two dutch brokers, imployed by the said factors, and<br /> saith hee sawe severall of the said goods in the house of one of the said<br /> factors or merchants, namely of the said [?BrXXX]. And otherwise hee cannot depose. To the sixth hee cannot depose. To the seaventh hee cannot depose, saying hee doth not knowe the<br /> interrogated Aldfr[?XX] [?Swarez]. To the eighth hee saith that of and for such goods as hee should<br /> deliver at Roane hee was to receive his freight there, and that hee<br /> was to make deliverie of all his lading at Roane, but if any of the<br /> merchants or factors would have him carry any of them to Amsterdam<br /> they were to contract with him for the freight de novo, his voyage [?XXX]<br /> to Charterpartie being to end at Roane. To the 9th hee saith hee verily beleeveth that noe ffrench man or men<br /> whatsoever have or hath any part or share in the goods claimed in<br /> this cause. And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving as aforesaid. To the tenth hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing<br /> deposition and to the said bills of lading. To the eleaventh hee saith and beleeveth that the said fourteene bills<br /> of lading are true and reall, and otherwise negatively referring<br /> himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.
