Transcription almost quite water shott alongst the Riveralmost quite water shott alongst the River and with the Currant of<br /> the streane and soe much was obvious to the sight of (and as hee beleeveth<br /> observed by all or most of the Company of the ''Imployment''./ To the 7th 8th 9th 10th and 11th articles hee saith hee this deponent being Masters Mate<br /> and on board the ''Imployment'' the tyme arlate well knoweth that at such tyme<br /> as the ''Imployment'' came to an Anchor neere Execution dock aforesayd<br /> her Master and company did take speciall care soe farr as they could to moore her in a safe and<br /> convenient place, and did moore her in or neere the middle of the Thames<br /> where they could finde most water and betweene two other shipps lying there<br /> where as her company conceived and in all likelyhood (for that they<br /> could not discover any boye neere) shee laye safe and had a good birth<br /> and was free from any danger soe farr as they could or did discover<br /> and saith shee soe rode in safety three or fower dayes during which tyme hee<br /> this deponent and others of the Company of the ''Imployment'' did diligently<br /> search with their boate for Anchors that might lye within reach of their byrth but<br /> could discover none, during all which tyme<br /> and for two or three dayes after the damage in question<br /> happened hee this deponent well observed and knoweth that the ''James and''<br /> ''Martin'' aforesayd did ride without a boy to her Anchor and almost quite water<br /> shott as hee hath predeposed by meanes whereof and not thrugh any<br /> neglect or fault of the Company of the ''Imployment'' the sayd shipp<br /> the ''Imployment'' did unexpectedly rest upon the Anchor of the ''James and Martin'' which<br /> anchor struck or made a hole in the ''Imployments'' bilge soe that<br /> shee laye till tyde of floud next after it soe happened fast hitcht in<br /> the flooke of the sayd anchor, and when the tyde of floud came and<br /> other shipps began (as is usuall) to turne with the tyde of floud this<br /> deponent and the company of the ''Imployment'' observing that their sayd<br /> shipp did not turne therewith as other shipps did, endeavoured to hawle<br /> her about with the tyde to keepe a cleere halfe, and by that meanes discovered<br /> that shee drewe more water then, (thugh part<br /> of her ladeing was delivered) then shee did when her whole ladeing<br /> was aboard, and thought shee had still bin on ground whereupon the Master<br /> and this deponent sounded the pumpe of the sayd shipp and found that<br /> shee had receaved sixe foote water in hold, and then upon search<br /> discovered, that there was a hole struck in her bilge by the Anchor<br /> of the ''James and Martin'' and the same being soe discovered the sayd<br /> Master and this deponent and the Company of the ''Imployment'' cryed<br /> outf the ''Imployment'' cryed<br /> out  +
