London haberdasher, aged 42 yeares or thereabouts, sworne<br />
and examined.
To the nineteenth article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that<br />
on or about the 22th of January last hee this deponent being in<br />
company of Corneluis Peterson Trumpeter of the shipp the ''Salvador''<br />
arlate at the signe of the shipp in Woolwich, heard the said Corneluis<br />
in discoure acknowledge and confesse that the said shipp that voyage<br />
was bound for Amsterdam or [?halled] there to dischardge, and had<br />
her owners there dwelling. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
Upon the rest hee is not examined by direction of the producent.
To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the 33th hee saith that the said confession of the said Trumpeter was<br />
made in dutch and English mixt, in an upper roome of the said house having<br />
the signe of the shipp towards the waterside, about midnight, and that there<br />
were then and there present besides this deponent and the said Trumpeter,<br />
his precontests Abraham Johnson and William Astell together with one<br />
Mr Simonds of the prize office and the saile maker of the ''Salvador''<br />
and saith hee this deponent was not in the voyage in question, And<br />
otherwise saving as aforesaid hee cannot depose
To the 36 hee saith that if hee were Judge of the businesse and that<br />
it were in his power hee would condemne the shipps the<br />
''Sampson'', the ''Salvador'' and the ''Saint George'' in question and the silver and<br />
goods in them for prize to this state, for that hee verily beleeveth<br />
them to be good prize, and as good prize as any that in a longe<br />
space came or were [?brought] into England.
To the 39th hee saith hee is a haberdasher by trade, and useth<br />
to waite aboard shipps for the prize office, and is constantly<br />
taxed and payeth towards the Armie and Navie as a [?parishoner] and<br />
hee [?XXXX XXX] a house hee dwelleth.
