Transcription to the 7th hee saith it is usuall when facto the 7th hee saith it is usuall when factors have not goods<br /> enough to ffully lade a shipp for the freighters accompt<br /> to permitt others to lade and supplie the rest, and the said<br /> factors giving way thereto, the master as to take in such<br /> other goods soe tendred to be laden by other men, And<br /> otherwise hee cannot depose saving as aforesaid. To the 10th hee saith that the usuall rates of the Turkey<br /> companie for freight of fine goods from Scanderooone, and<br /> Cyprus hath bin 7 ''li'' per tonne, Cotton woolls 6 ''li'' per tonne<br /> and galls 4 ''li'' per tonne, untill the late troubles with the<br /> dutch, and then they were raised. And otherwise hee cannot<br /> depose, saving as aforesaid, and saving that from ligorne<br /> the freight was about the same rate. To the 18th hee saith that the said Alderman ffrederick,<br /> Mr ffowke, Mr Chewne and Mr Rowse are of the Turkey<br /> company. And otherwise hee cannot depose, for this deponent<br /> was then abroad. To the 21 hee saith there will be some losse in Cotton<br /> Woolls and galls in the lading and unlading, though they be<br /> not stolen by the company. To the 22th hee saith hee hath bin both at Cyprus and<br /> Scandaron and hath caused Cottons and gawles to be laden,<br /> and saith they are and ought to be taken in by weight, and<br /> this deponent hath knowne many soe taken in by weight<br /> with diverse shipps, And saith the master is bound to take<br /> in such goods by weight and not by take, and there is allowance<br /> for the same, and therefore it is but reasonable that hee should<br /> be answerable for them by weight, and to make them up<br /> according to the bills of lading and factories if ought be<br /> wanting above the allowance, being as aforesaid bound to take them<br /> in by weight. To the 23th hee saith that Cottons upon their lading in the<br /> straights are steeved hard in with engines, and soe hard that it<br /> is very difficult to get them out without tering some of the baggs,<br /> and that it is usuall for the owners of such goods namely<br /> for Cottons and galls upon warning from the master to send<br /> canvas (upon their arrivall) to make more baggs in place of them<br /> that are torne apeeces, and to mend the old, And otherwise hee<br /> cannot depose. Top the last hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing depositions<br /> And otherwise hee cannot depose.
