Transcription To the 12th article of the sayd allegationTo the 12th article of the sayd allegation hee saith that for that<br /> hee tooke notice of them in writing hee knoweth the sayd John<br /> Godden the voyage in question lay on shoare upon his own<br /> pleasure about fower nights and dayes at severall tymes, and saith that<br /> in the sayd voyage this deponent observing that the Corne brought<br /> from London was dammaged by water did speake to the Master of<br /> the shipp that hee would give order that the Company might bring<br /> up such corne as was well to be dryed upon the hatches and seperated<br /> from that which was drye that soe it might not taint that which<br /> was good and thereupon the sayd Master Commanded the sayd<br /> Godden and others of the sayd shipps Company to bring up the<br /> sayd wett were to bee dryed and the sayd Godden and Company<br /> and findeing much of the Corne wett they mixed the wett corne<br /> amongst the goods and this deponent comming downe into hold and<br /> seeing them doe soe told them that would spoile all the rest of<br /> the corne which was good, but they persisting still to doe soe<br /> this deponent told them that if they did soe hee for his part would<br /> not have any hand in it whereupon the sayd Gooden sayd<br /> speakeing to the rest of the Company in hold sayd that there<br /> was but little dammage in the sayd corne and that if it came<br /> in question this (meaning this deponents oath) is but<br /> one, and ours are many or hee spake words to that effect<br /> And hee alsoe saith that hee well observes that in all the<br /> mutinous and disobedient actions aforesayd of the sayd<br /> shipps company the sayd Godden did not (as by his duty<br /> of his place of Gunner hee ought to have done) helpe the sayd Master<br /> or in the least assiste him to keepe the sayd Company in<br /> obedience And further to this article hee cannot depose/ To the 13th hee saith that the arlate henry denby did confesse to<br /> this deponent that hee did sett his name to the writeing<br /> arlate, but hee saith off this deponents knowledge hee did not then<br /> desert the sayd shipp as above in the sayd writing expressed did<br /> but saith the sayd denby was at severall tymes three or fower<br /> nights and dayes on shoare during the voyage arlate, and was one<br /> of those who would not be nor was interested with his ordinary<br /> allowance in matters of dyet and refused to goe the voyage from<br /> Zant to Cassandra, and this deponent beleeveth that hee was not<br /> a sufficient and able Cooke for that<br /> hee observed hee could not dress a dish off minced meate or<br /> doe any thing that was extraordinary without this deponents direction<br /> or assistance And as to the sayd Richard Brookes hee saith<br /> hee Richard Brookes hee saith<br /> hee  +
