'''John Jourden''' of the parish of Stepney in the County<br /> of Middlesex, Mariner, aged foure and twenty yeares or<br /> thereabouts, sworne as in the acts of Court, saith<br /> and deposeth by vertue of his oath as followeth. To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that<br /> hee well knoweth the arlated Peter and Abraham Caullier, and that<br /> they and company were the time arlated the true and lawfull owners and<br /> proprietors of the Shipp or vessel called the ''Brotherhood'' of London<br /> arlate and of her tackle and furniture, and alsoe of ninetie foure<br /> Negro's, and some Elephants teeth; and for such commonly<br /> accounted and reputed, which hee knoweth for then hee this deponent<br /> was one of the company of mariners of the said shipp the<br /> voyage allegate, and saw her setting out thereupon by the said Peter<br /> and Abraham Caullier, who with their company were and are Englishmen and Subiects of this Comonwealth To the second article hee saith and deposeth that within the said time<br /> the said shipp the ''Brotherhood'', with the said Negro's and Elephants<br /> teeth aboard her abode and remained at or neare a place called Cape<br /> Lopez on the coast of Guiney, and were then in the power and possession<br /> of the then master and company of the said shipp, Englishmen for<br /> the use and account of the said Peter and Abraham Caullier and<br /> company, and thence to be carried to the Barbada's, where the said<br /> Negro's were to be sould and bartered away for sugars and other<br /> commodities for the account aforesaid. And saith then while the said<br /> shipp so remained with the said Negro's and Elephants teeth<br /> at Cape Lopez, there was with her company in a quiet and<br /> peaceable condition, without offering any violence to any shipp<br /> or person of or belonging to any shipp, which he knoweth being<br /> one of the ''Brotherhoods'' company, and then and there in her.
