To the fourth hee saith the said shipp was of the burthen of 80 tonnes<br />
or thereabouts, and had two small brasse guns and three iron guns in<br />
her at the time of the said seizure, and that the weare and teare<br />
of her per moneth was worth 30 ''li'' sterling per moneth<br />
and saith shee was detained under the said seizure for all the said<br />
time of this deponents imprisonment being tenn monethes, and there<br />
this deponent lost her when hee came thense, and there as hee hath<br />
heard shee was detained under the said arrest untill the moneth<br />
of ffebruary 1651 and saith the said shipp was much damnified<br />
in her hull by the said lying when this deponent came thence, and<br />
the said owners have in his estimation sustained at least 30 ''li'' per<br />
moneth dammage and Losse for weare and teare of the said<br />
shipp for all the time afore said. And otherwise hee cannot depose.<br />
saving that one Peter Philmer a mariner in the shipp ''Swann'' that came<br />
from Newfound land in company of this deponents shipp had aboard this<br />
deponents said shipp at the time of the said seizure six kintells and<br />
three quarters of drie fish, worth 90 Rialls oer lintall one kintall with<br />
another which hee lost by the said seizure.

To the first and second Interrogatories hee saith and deposeth that hee well<br />
knew the shipp the ''hopegood'' interrogated whereof John hayward<br />
was commander at such time as shee was seized by the Portugueses;<br />
and saith that humphrey hill, John hill and Rowland hill and<br />
other English merchants were then her owners and for such commonly<br />
accompted, And saith that the said shipp tooke in her lading of<br />
Newfound land fish in Newfound land in or about the moneth of<br />
August 1650, and therewith set saile thense about the end of the<br />
said moneth for Port a Port in Portugall, and arived there with her<br />
said lading on the thirteenth day of October 1650 old stile, and that<br />
on the said thirteenth day after her said arivall the said shipp and<br />
lading were seized at Port a Port by the ministers of the king of<br />
