in her maste sailes, rigging and hull, to the valew of two hundred<br />
pounds sterling or thereabouts, which had undoubtedly bin<br />
avoided in case the said dutch had not soe stayed and hindered<br />
her as aforesaid. yielding a reason as aforesaid.
To the twelveth hee saith that the said Abraham hill, John<br />
Gregory, henry Crane and company by reason of the said<br />
wrongs and hinderances soe donne them by the said dutch<br />
shipps and companies, have in losse of time as aforesaid<br />
deterioration of the said ship in her masts, sailes, rigging<br />
and hull as aforesaid, and otherwise suffered losse and<br />
damage to the summe of two thousand pounds sterling or<br />
thereabouts in his estimation. And hee cannot<br />
further depose.
To the 13th hee saith that Bantam afoeresaid is a place<br />
to and at which the English have traded for many yeeres<br />
namely (as hee hath bin credibly informed) for fourtie or fiftie<br />
yeares last, and have not bin hindered that ever hee had heard till<br />
about May 1656 that the dutch interrupted such their<br />
freedom of trading there, and saith that by common repute<br />
there hath bin an English factorie and severall English merchants<br />
and factors there resident for all the time aforesaid. And<br />
this hee saith is publique and notorious.
To the 14th article and the schedule annexed hee saith and<br />
deposeth that hee this deponent was presenton the<br />
day of the date of the said schedule namely the 21th of March<br />
1656(57) aboard the said ship at Pulla[?gund] aforesaid, when<br />
and where hee saw the arlate ffrederick Skinner, James<br />
Bostock and Robert Cock subscribe the same with their respective<br />
hands, and that the said Skinner was then Agent for the<br />
English East India Company at Bantam, and the said<br />
Bostock and Cock were English merchants there resident,<br />
And saith the contents of the said schedule were and are true and<br />
soe had and donne as therein is contained, yielding a reason of<br />
his knowledge as aforesaid, and further doth not depose.
