'''Thomas Wallop''' of dover in the County of Kent Mariner<br /> aged 41 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined To the first, second and third articles hee saith and deposeth,<br /> that hee well knoweth the shipp the ''Vincent'' now called the<br /> ''Elizabeth'' arlate, and well knoweth that about five yeares since<br /> and during the warrs betwixt this nation and holland shee was<br /> a prize taken from the dutch by a private man of warr set<br /> out from dover which brought her in thither, this deponent then<br /> seeing her soe brought in, and after such her bringing in the<br /> producents Vincent dela barr, Thomas dela Val , Michael<br /> de haze, and company bought her at dover of the setters out<br /> of the said man of warr, and having fitted her they afterwards<br /> namely in and about October 1655 sent her for Ostend with<br /> a lading of coales under the conduct of Michaell Wallop her then<br /> master, and comming to Ostend shee ws there as this deponent<br /> hath heard seized by the officers of the kinge of Spaine and the<br /> said owners delabarr and company divested and dispoiled of her<br /> And further that the said shipp being since retaken, and being<br /> in the downes, this deponent on the 23th of August last went<br /> aboard her from dover, and having bin severall times aboard<br /> her before such her setting out for Ostend hee this deponent<br /> presently knew her to be the same shipp by a fish in her<br /> maine mast, and a graze with ashott on the foremast iust above<br /> the coller of the mainestay, and by two ports for<br /> guns cut out of midshipp, made of English planck, and by<br /> the [?connings] of the main hatches made of English oke, and<br /> other signes, all which shee had when shee was soe set out for<br /> Ostend. And further deposeth not. To the fourth hee saith hee well knoweth the producents to be<br /> all Inhabitants and subiects of this Commonwealth, and for<br /> such comonly accounted.
