Transcription did frequently advise with this deponent adid frequently advise with this deponent and his other<br /> mates thereabout, and saith about three dayes or ?some before<br /> the said Grove Discovered the Island called Santo<br /> Lazio (by which sight of which Island the said Grove<br /> and Company perceived they had overshot the Barbadoes)<br /> the said Grove called this deponent and his other mates<br /> to an accompt of the said ships sailing, and asked<br /> them howe farr the said ship, was to windward<br /> of the Barbadoes by their account, or to that effect,<br /> to which this deponent made answer that by his Account<br /> she was about 140 Leages (sic) to windward of the Barbadoes. And the said Yeomans<br /> made answer as hee now remembreth that by his Account the said ship was<br /> about one hundred and twenty Leagues to windwards of the Barbadoes and the said Hyzard<br /> said that by his account (as this Deponent now remembreth)<br /> shee was above a hundred Leagues to windward<br /> of the Barbadoes or to that effect, And the said<br /> Grove told this deponent and his said other mates, that<br /> by his account hee was alsoe above one hundred Leagues<br /> to Windward of the Barbadoes. And saith<br /> that the Course which the said Grove steered (by his<br /> the said Groves owne Account, and by the account of<br /> his mates) was above one hundred leagues to windward<br /> of the Barbadoes when as afterwards shee really appeared<br /> then to be to Leeward of the Barbadoes; And<br /> further deposeth that the foresaid Tizard who was<br /> hyred by the said Woods to goe one of the Mates<br /> of the said Ship, was not capable or fitt for<br /> a place or office for that hee is an Unskillfull<br /> person, and cann neither write nor reade, neither had<br /> hee the said Tizard any Instruments to doe or performe<br /> his said Office saving a forestaffe which hee knoweth for that hee saied<br /> in the said ship the said Voyage with the said<br /> Tizard: And further hee cannot depose;/: To the 11th hee saith that the said Grove did not at Mevis<br /> (as this deponent knoweth of) use any Ignominious or<br /> reproachfull words to or against the said Luke Woods<br /> nor say that he would hinder the sale of the said ffish<br /> nor over throwne or hinder the said Voyage; but did<br /> both what hee could, and what hee ought to doe<br /> to further the Advancement of the said voyage<br /> And saith that the said Luke Wood in this deponents presence in the Round<br /> house of the said ship, whilst shee lay at Mevis did<br /> Revile the said Grove; and Called him severall Ignomini=<br /> ous names and told him that hee the said Wood was faine to<br /> speake to Mr Crispe. (who is one of the Cheife owners of the<br /> said ship ''Peace'',) that he the said Grove might goe Master,) that he the said Grove might goe Master  +
