Transcription To the 21th hee saith hee cannot depose, sTo the 21th hee saith hee cannot depose, saving as aforesaid To the 22th hee saith that the said Thomas Grove was<br /> made Master and Comander of the said Ship ''Peace'' the<br /> Voyage in Question by Captaine Edward<br /> Cripps. a great Part owner of the said Ship. With the<br /> Consent of the rest of the owners of the said Shipp as<br /> hee beleeveth; and was to have the Care and<br /> Charge of her touching her navigation, during all the<br /> said Voyage. from Port to Port. as hee should be<br /> ordered, and not otherwise, And the said Luke Wood<br /> being a part ffreighter of the said ship was, and<br /> went Supra Cargoe of the said Ship the said Voyage<br /> and had and tooke upon him the Care Charge<br /> and management of the whole Lading of the said<br /> Ship in reference to himselfe, and the rest of the<br /> owners of the Lading of the said Ship; And as<br /> hee beleeveth hee was soe made Supra Cargoe<br /> of her by the said Captaine Crips: and others and further<br /> Cannot depose:/. To the 23th hee saith that he hath well knowne the<br /> said Thomas Grove for above 24 yeeres last, and<br /> hath gone to sea with him, and thereby knoweth<br /> that hee is a very Able Seaman and Mariner, and hath<br /> belonged to the sea, as a Mariner and Master, for<br /> theise twenty yeeres last, and hath bin Master of the said<br /> Ship ''Peace'' for theise three yeeres last, And saith<br /> that for an Able, skillfull, and Experienced Seaman<br /> hee the said Thomas Groves was and is Commonly<br /> Accounted, reputed, and taken. And further hee<br /> Cannot depose To the 24th hee saith that the said Thomas Grove did<br /> during the whole Voyage strive and endevour to make<br /> his Mariners doe their Dutyes in the performance<br /> of their severall offices and places, and upon severall<br /> occasions and Carles neglects of their dutyes the said<br /> Grove would and did punish them with moderate<br /> Correction, and particularly hee saith that the said Grove<br /> did Moderately Correct one Thomas Capell the Cooper<br /> of the said Ship the said Voyage who was a Stubborne<br /> and Carles ffellowe. And further cannot depose saving that<br /> one Richard BlakeX Boatswaine of the said Ship the said Voyage<br /> hath told this deponent and others that hee the said Blake had receaved<br /> 5:ld of the said Luke Wood, more than than of the rest of the<br /> Companyhan of the rest of the<br /> Company  +
