with the realitie of the matter, and the said John Maria<br />
basso having told them that hee had provided, that instead of foure<br />
ashore suffice that this deponent brought only two of the officers<br />
along with him, the said ketcher willed this deponent to satisfie<br />
and tell them that for that might hee this deponent held it expedient<br />
to stand out to sea, but the next morning hee would come there againe<br />
to an anchor, and that hee this deponent and two of his officers would<br />
come accordingly ashore and bring their dispatches, and soe the said basso returned ashore, And saith that the<br />
said John Maria before such his retourne declared to this deponent (and<br />
this deponent acquainted the said ketcher and company) that the<br />
officers had a good while attended and were yet attending to<br />
view the health brief and dispatches, that soe the shipp might proceed<br />
to ?triale, and therefore prayed this deponent not to faile to come the<br />
next morning accordingly, and againe telling him that hee would<br />
undertake that they should ?bee carried ?out in securitie or to that effect.
To the nineth 10th and 11th articles hee saith that the next morning the said shipp<br />
coming and being again at an anchor the said Capitan del mar?ie<br />
came againe aboard and brought a letter with him from the<br />
said John Maria Bassa directed to this deponent (and which this deponent<br />
hath now with him) purporting that the said officers were still there<br />
staying, at his hreate charges, very impatient of stay, and<br />
that unlesse this deponent came ashore and brought his said dispatches,<br />
they would (as they threatened) be gonne, which would be much to the<br />
preiudice of the said voyage, or to the same effect, with the<br />
contents of which lettere this deponent acquainted the said mr ketcher, and<br />
withall prepared himselfe to goe ashoare, and all this while the<br />
said Capitan del mare being aboard the said shipp, and seeing some of<br />
the men about unfurling the sailes, called to his men that were in his<br />
boate to come neerer to the shipps side, upon which some of the said<br />
''lysbone frigots'' company called to the sayd ketcher and said hee (speaking<br />
of the said Capitan del mara) calls to his men to come aboard<br />
and take us, and saith that this deponent persuading him the said<br />
ketcher that there was noe danger, and that the said John Maria<br />
Bassa had againe in his last letter assured him soe much, prayed<br />
him to let him have the boate and two men to carry him ashoare<br />
for which, to men were readie and willing, howbeit the said<br />
ketcher seeing two boates standing to and againe and making to<br />
goe ashoare, said that thez would come aboard and take the said shipp<br />
and that it was impossible for this deponent then to goe ashore, or<br />
to that effect, and that if this deponent would needs goe ashoare hee<br />
might goe in the said Capitan dell mara his boate, whereupon this de[ponent<br />
telling the said Capitan dell mara that hee was not permitted to come<br />
ashoare the said Capitan tooke his boate and went ashoare, and<br />
the said shipp went to saile by order of the said ketcher, notwithstanding<br />
