Transcription To the 5th hee saith that hee is not able To the 5th hee saith that hee is not able to Judge how much<br /> a new head for the said ship will Cost, or how much Dammage the<br /> owners of the said ship the ''John and Katherine'' have sustained<br /> by reason of the breaking the said ships head, but saith<br /> hee Judgeth and verily beleeveth that they are Dammaged<br /> by reason of the Cutting and breaking, and Shortening [?the GUTTER]<br /> said Cables the summe or vallue of Eight pounds at<br /> least, And further cannot Depose:/: To the 6th hee saith that at the said time when the said Dammage<br /> happened the said ship the ''John and Katherin'' was a strong<br /> and staunch ship, and her head was strong and [?XXXX GUTTER]<br /> and well and finely built, and very Richly painted<br /> Guilded and Carved, which hee Knoweth for the reasons<br /> aforesaid, And further cannot Depose./. To the 7th hee saith that the said Miller was at<br /> Charges for sending Boates from Gravesend to [?fetch GUTTER]<br /> Timber, to make her a Stumpe head, to go the voyage<br /> shee was bound upon, and otherwise, by meanes of<br /> the said Disaster, And further cannot depose: To the 8th hee cannot depose./. To the 12th hee saith his foregoeing deposition is<br /> true/. To the Interrogatoryes./. [CENTRE HEADING] To the first hee saith hee cometh to Testify in this<br /> busines at the request of the said Captaine Miller; and saith<br /> hee was Boatswaine of the said ship the ''John and''<br /> ''Katherine'' at the time the said damage, was done, and<br /> hee hath receaved all his wages for his service in the said<br /> ship, since the said Dammage happened saving two [?XXX GUTTER]<br /> pay which was deducted by the said Miller towards [?satisfaction GUTTER]<br /> for a Shallop of Sugar which was Cast away at the Barbados To the second he saith hee was on board the ''John and Katherine''<br /> the time Interrogate and the said Damage was done about foure or<br /> five a Clock in the morning, and there was then but very little<br /> wind, and the ''John and Katherine'' then roade about a Cables [?length GUTTER]<br /> from shore and had about five and twenty sea men then<br /> aboard her and about thirty passengers she was then outwards bound and about [x GUTTER]<br /> Quarters Loaden, and otherwise cannot Answer./: To the third hee saith hee is nowe mate of the said<br /> ship ''John and Katherine'', and otherwise negatively./.
