Transcription and hee this deponent verily beleeveth thaand hee this deponent verily beleeveth that the sayd Woods being<br /> sole supracargo of the sayed shipp for the voyage in question both<br /> the Master and Mariners ought to obey and observe the orders<br /> of the sayd Luke Woods as Supracargo as touching the lading unlading<br /> and reladeing of the sayd shipp and to goe with the shipps boate, and with the<br /> sayd shipp from place to place according as the sayd Woods should<br /> for his best advantage of tradeing in the sayd voyage direct and<br /> appoint And further to this arle hee cannot depose not being p:rsent<br /> at the writeing or signeing of the Schedule arlate To the 5th and 6th articles of the sayd libell hee saith that the sayd<br /> shipp the ''Pease'' after her departure from Gravesend being in her course<br /> towards ffrance she was by Contrary winds put into ffalmouth where<br /> she lay winde bound for neere about thirteene dayes And on or about<br /> the seaventeenth of Aprill 1657 the winde came fayer and the sayd Luke<br /> Woods and the sayd Thomas Grove being then on shoare and hee this deponent<br /> aboard, hee knoweth not what words passed on shoare betweene them but<br /> well knoweth that they came both aboard the sayd shipp togeather about<br /> two of the Clock in the afternoone that day and that as soone as they<br /> came aboard they sent Thomas Yeomans one of the Mates of the [XX GUTTER]<br /> with the shipps boate to cleere at the Castle, and in the meane<br /> tyme while the sayd Mate was goeing to cleere the sayd Grove com-<br /> manded the sayd shipp to be brought to sayle and before the<br /> Anchors could be gott aboard and the shipp fitted to sayle, there being<br /> a Country boate lyeing by the shipps side the sayd Thomas Grove the<br /> master would needes goe on shoare againe in that Country boate<br /> and did goe ashoare in it notwithstanding that the sayd Luke<br /> Woods seeing him about soe to doe did in presence of this deponent and<br /> divers of the shipps company earnestly perswade and entreate<br /> the sayd Thomas Grove not to goe on shoare againe and told him [XX GUTTER]<br /> [XXX] his goeing a shoare would be a great hinderance to the voyage<br /> the shipp being bound upon a fishing designe & the season somewhat spent<br /> allready by the shipps lying soe long winde bound as she had done<br /> and the winde then [?seerveing] fayre for her departure (as in deede it did)<br /> but the sayd Grove notwithstanding such perswasions went ashoare and<br /> there stayed most part of that night ashoare and came againe<br /> aboard the sayd shipp about two a clock in the morning, in the<br /> shipps boate which was sent after him to attend him and bring<br /> him aboard And hee saith the sayd Thomas Grove being come againe<br /> aboard the sayd shipp did publiquely upon the deck in presence of<br /> this deponent and divers others of the shipps company, speake in an?gry<br /> manner and sayd thus or the like in effect there are some on board<br /> that thinke much of my being on shoare but I care not, and<br /> further sayd that shee (meaning the sayd shipp ''Pease'') should ride<br /> therep ''Pease'') should ride<br /> there  +
