Ad primum rendet that hee this deponent is the Master of the said ship ''Saint John Baptist''<br />
and soe hath bin ever since the 25th of ffebruary last<br />
new stile and knoweth her not afore, and saith that hee was<br />
sent for from Ostend to come to Bruges by Mr Abraham Van Luster, and<br />
[?BurgenXX] [?Cooba Risha] and the heer Justice Tollmaer, Joos Asa<br />
and Mr Dambiel to goe master of the said ship which was then at Bruges and hee goeing<br />
thither accordingly they made him master of her the said ship, and saith that the said<br />
persons were and are her owners but of what parts hee knoweth not nor knoweth<br />
of whom or when they bought her saving that hee heard that they bought her<br />
at Zirricksea in Zealand, and hee thinketh that shee was there built and<br />
sayth that all the said Owners live at Bruges and are all natives of<br />

Ad 2um rendet That the said ship is of the burthen of about two and thirty tonns<br />
and when shee was taken shee had two hundred and ten barrells of herrings<br />
and some smaller vessells of hererings in her with the herings they had taken for the<br />
account of the said owners of the said ship which sent her out from Ostend with barrells and salt<br />
upon a fishing voyage and they were to returne therewith to Ostend and thence<br />
were to goe to Bruges and deliver the same to the said Owners and sayth that<br />
noe enemy hath any manner of interest therein or in the said ship<br />
upon his soule and salvation et alr salvis predepoitis nescit./
Ad 3um et [?reliqua Interrogatoriia] rendet that hee and all his company were hired by the said Owners at<br />
Bruges to goe a fishing and to returne thether againe and saith that before<br />
this voyage hee made but one with the sayd vessel which was alsoefrom Bruges on a fishing voyage on his said owners account<br />
and was taken by a Scotch privateer and carryed into Leith, and was there<br />
cleared and thence returned to Ostend without lading, and then began this voyage<br />
and saith that his company consistes of nine men besides himselfe amd two<br />
boyes, and saith that about seaven of them as hee beleeveth were borne in the Dominions of the<br />
States of the United Provinces, but live with their wives and children in<br />
Bruges and the rest are for ought hee knoweth to the contrary of fflanders<br />

had other writings which came all to the Kings Officers hands and none of his writings<br />
