Sisters aforesaid./

Examined upon the foresaid Libell./.

Edmund Pyke of Wapping in the parish of White
Chappell, Gentleman aged 61. yeeres or thereabouts sworne
and Examined./.

To the first article of the said Libell this deponent saith that hee very well
knoweth the Libellate Gregory Carey and hath soe done for theise
5 monethes last or thereabouts, and saith the said Carey was
commonly accompted Master and Comander of the said shipp the Sisters of
Ipswich the time libellate, And otherwise hee
cannot depose./.

To the 2d, third and fourth hee cannot depose saving what followeth.

To the fifth article and schedule hee saith that about five monethes since (this
deponent having a particular of the beefe schedulated and of the
dayes of the deliverie thereof to the use of the shipp the Sisters arlate,
and of the prices in all things therein answerable to the said schedule
before hand delivered unto him by the producent Richard hammond) did
severall times meete with and shew the same unto the arlate
Gregory Carye, and asked him whie hee having received the said
severall parcells of beefe from Mr hammond aboard his said shipp
did not cause Mr hammond to be paid for the same, being
delivered to the use f his said shipp, and the said Carey severall
times tooke the said note and read it and acknowledged the same
to be true touching the particulars of the severall parcells of
beefe, times and summes in all things answerable to the said schedule
nowe read unto him, and confessed the receipt of all the said
beefe of and from the producent on board his said shipp for
her victualling the times and at the prices schedulated and that the same was sent aboard her. And
theise confessions and acknowledgements happend at the house of
one Mr Parker in Gravell lane in Wapping in the presence and
hearing of this deponent and of the said Mr Parkers man. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first negatively.

To the second 3. and 4 negatively for his part and otherwise hee cannot depose,
saving hee hath heard that Mr hammond hath received 3 li of the said Carey
in part of payment of the said beef.

To the 5th hee cannot depose.

To the 6th negatively for his part and otherwise cannot depose.

To the 7th hee saith that the said Carey the time aforesaid [?excused] the
payment of the said debt, (which in all hee confessed to amount to 50 li 16 s 6 d besides the foresaid three pounds
by his being turned out of the shipp and soe disabled to pay it.
And otherwise hee cannot depose.
