Abstract & context


Sir Thomas Bendysh had been English Ambassador at Constantinople during the 1650s. He was now resident at Bumstead in Norfolk. His son, Charles Bendysh, was with Sir George Oxenden in the East Indies.

S:r The fore gooing lines are Coppy of my last sent to Plimouth hopeing they might have mett you there, these I hope will safely finde you, or finde you safe, & in good health at yo:r port of Surr:tt thee are onely to confirme the former, & to assure you, as my memory is not soo bad as to forgett any part of yo:r favour shewdd my son,[1] soo my desires & Indeavours ever shall bee both to expresse my thankfullnesse , & finde opportunity really to serve you who truely am
